The H1N1 Flu Virus (the swine flu)
For all students, staff and families… please stay home if you have:
A fever of 100 in adults, or 103-105 in children.
Chills and sweats
Headache
Dry cough
Muscle/joint pain
Fatigue
Diarrhea and vomiting
Please note the following flu prevention measures:
Cover mouth and nose with arm when sneezing and coughing.
Wash hands often with soap and water.
Avoid contact with sick people.
To avoid the spread of germs, do not touch eyes, nose or mouth.

Parents,
As many of you know there have been 2 confirmed cases of H1N1 virus in Fairborn schools. Tonight we were told that there have been other possible cases of the virus reported.

Here at Bethlehem we do come into contact with Fairborn students because we have bus riders riding with them. In an attempt to help keep our kids healthy, we are cleaning all surfaces in both the classrooms and the lunchrooms with a bleach and water solution daily. We are also cleaning our hand rails, faucets, drinking fountain, door knobs, and toilet handles twice each day with this same solution.

We have also scheduled a nurse to come in to talk to our students about good hygiene. Among other things, she will be stressing proper hand washing techniques, how to sneeze and cough into the crook of their arms instead of their hands, and how to avoid the spread of germs by not touching their eyes, nose or mouth.

We need your help. If your child is sick, please keep him or her at home. We also encourage you to take your child to a doctor if he or she exhibits any of the following flu symptoms; .fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.

Sincerely,
Maggie Geilenfeldt
Principal
